Ab initio alpha-alpha scatteringSerdar Elhatisari Abstract: I present ab initio nuclear lattice simulations for two-cluster scattering using the adiabatic projection method and the nuclear forces from chiral effective field theory. The adiabatic projection method is a general framework for scattering and reactions on the lattice which uses a set of initial cluster states and Euclidean time projection to give a systematically improvable description of the low-lying scattering cluster states, and chiral effective field theory is an effective theory of QCD. I also discuss Auxiliary Field Monte Carlo used in the calculations for which the computational scaling is mild enough to make large scale calculations practical. Then I mainly focus on alpha–alpha scattering on the lattice at next-to-next-to-leading order in chiral effective field theory, and I present the results for the S-wave and D-wave scattering phase shifts and compare with experimental data. |
