Experimental search for axion dark matter
Abstract: The axion, originally proposed as a solution to the strong CP problem, is also a well-motivated candidate for dark matter. Cosmic Axion Spin Precession Experiment (CASPEr) is a collaboration of two table-top experiments that search for background axion dark matter field using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) methods. These two experiments are CASPEr-Wind, which searches for direct coupling of axion to nuclear spin, and CASPEr-Electric, which searches for time-varying nuclear electric dipole moment induced by the axion field. In this talk, we will discuss the motivations behind CASPEr and experimental design and progress of CASPEr-Electric.
