Perovskite as the Next Era in Solar Cells with Novel Architectures

Abstract: New class of materials called the hybrid perovskites has recently been discovered as an energy conversion layer to produce low-cost and high-efficient solar cells. However most of the perovskite-based architectures so far are selfsame and requires very intensive interface and solution engineering process. In this talk, I will present our new innovation titled “Graded Bandgap Perovskite Solar Cells”. This method has an entirely new architecture using an innovative nanomaterial stacking sequence that effectively maximizes the absorption of solar energy and reaches record-setting power conversion efficiency (~22%) with current densities (42.1mA/cm2) plus even without rigorous manufacturing requirements. Our novel technique further opens up new experimental dimensions for many other possibilities such as our explosion proof Li-ion batteries where I briefly introduce to conclude.
