Abstract: Glow discharge plasma is nowadays used in many technological fields such as surface modification, plasma light sources, plasma medicine, TV displays etc. The efficient use of glow discharge in such areas depends on a good understanding of the plasma properties. It is possible to obtain this understanding by using numerical models. Mostly, fluid, kinetic/particle and hybrid methods are used in simulations of glow discharge plasma. In this talk, Particle in Cell/Monte Carlo Collision (PIC/MCC) simulation code, developed, which can be used to explain the kinetic behavior of particles, will be discussed. This method includes the solution of the Lorentz force equation for the motion of super particles and the Poisson equation for the electric field. Collisions between the particles are modeled with the MCC method. Several benchmark studies performed to demonstrate the applicability of the code. In addition, the code was parallelized by using Open MPI (Message Passing Interface) library to achieve performance improvement. All of these processes will be explained in detail and finally, some studies performed using this code and the results of these studies will be summarized.
