Cavid Erginsoy Seminar Room, Physics Department, 3rd floor

Abstract: Earth’s atmosphere is not just a mixture of gases surrounding our planet. It is alive in a sense, and very delicately balanced mechanism; without which, life as we know today would not exist. Since the tree of life flourished on our planet to the current state, understanding nature has been the greatest fascination of humankind. The journey we began in fear of lightning has approached a point where we make our own lightning. We now better understand the fine balance of our Atmosphere, yet also recognize there is still much to discover.

Today’s seminar will be discussing 20th to 21st century atmospheric science and highlighting the importance of research activities in this field. Dr. Bacak will present his project of The Atmospheric and Environmental Chemistry Laboratory (AECL) and talk about future research plans and targets.
