Electronic spin transport in two-dimensional black phosphorus

Abstract: Two-dimensional materials such as graphene and black phosphorus hold great promise for room-temperature spintronics applications requiring long-distance spin communication (:cell PQA(PSS(1):). In this talk, I will focus on spin transport in ultra-thin black phosphorus. After introducing its exceptional spin transport properties (e.g. gate-tunable nanosecond spin lifetimes and record non-local spin signals) (:cell PQA(PSS(2):), I will discuss our recent efforts focused on investigating the impact of its unique crystal structure on spin dynamics (:cell PQA(PSS(3):). The observation of strong anisotropic spin transport provides opportunities to realize directional control of spin propagation.
