Goal
This winter school is the first of the international schools to be
organized by the Applied Condensed Matter and Materials Science division of
the International Advanced Research School (IARS). With this school as well
as the future ones, we aim
- to contribute to the education of exceptional graduate students by
providing an opportunity of interaction between them and experienced
scientists on an international platform.
- to expose students to up-to-date research.
- to allow students to interact with scientists and their fellow students
on scientific matters on a daily basis during the school.
- to introduce students to new methods and techniques that will allow
them to follow modern research more closely.
Lectures
There will be four modules of lectures given by three lecturers. See the
detailed programme here. There will be about
42 hours of lectures in total with approximately 5 hours of lectures every
morning to be held between 9:00-13:30 following
breakfast. Afternoons and evenings will be devoted to discussions, homework
and group work. There will be an assistant to help with the software and
general matters.
Certification
At the end of the
winter school, successful participants will receive a certificate stating
their completion of the school. Success is based upon -
participation to all of the lectures.
- completion of homework
assignments given by lecturers.
