    Application Guidelines

    This school is intended mainly for Master's and PhD students. Undergraduates will only be admitted on the basis of exceptional credentials. Precedence will, however, be given to graduate students.

    Applicants are expected to
    • have had at least one graduate level course in quantum mechanics
    • have had at least one undergraduate level course in solid state physics
    • demonstrate sufficient knowledge in computers. Some experience in C, Fortran, Matlab, Java, Python or similar software is sufficient. Applicants with experience in running atomistic software such as Gaussian, VASP, WIEN2K, PWSCF, SIESTA etc. will be prefered over those with no experience in running such software.
    • display sufficient fluency in English to be able to follow the classes at the winter school.

    Applicants from Turkish schools:

    • Participation is limited to 15 applicants.
    • Lodging and meals will be covered by the institute. Travel, however, is the responsibility of the participants.
    • Applications submitted in time will be reviewed by the organizers and participants will be elected based upon the suitability of their credentials to the above list.

    Applicants from foreign institutions:

    • There is no limit on participation.
    • The participation fee is &euro 430 covering full lodging, meals and attendance to lectures.
