Curriculum Vita


[Sinasi] ŞİNASİ ELLİALTIOĞLU was born in Ankara, Turkey, on November 4th, 1950. He graduated from Ankara Fen Lisesi (Science Lycee) in 1967. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Physics from the Middle East Technical University (METU), in 1971 and 1973, respectively. He has finished his Ph.D. work in Condensed Matter Theory at the University of Missouri - Columbia in 1977. He completed his Habilitation in 1982 and became a professor of physics at METU in 1988. He has been granted JFK Fellowship for Basic Sciences (1967 - 1971), O. M. Stewart Fellowship (1975 - 1977), Postdoctoral Fellowship of NSF (1978 - 1980), Research Fellowships of Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (KFA - Julich, 1984 - 1986), NATO (1995) and Fulbright Foundation (Georgia Tech, Atlanta, 1995 - 1996), as well as TUBITAK - Promotional Award in Basic Sciences in 1987.
Şinasi Ellialtıoğlu served as the National Administrator of NATO Science Fellowships Programme (1988 - 1989), Chairman of the Executive Committee for Raising Young Scientists of the Scientific and Technical Research Committee of Turkey (TUBITAK, 1988 - 1989), Chairman of Physics Department, METU (1988 - 1994), Member of the University Administrative Board (METU 1992 - 1994), Member of the Advisory Board to Turkish Atomic Energy Authority (TAEK 1993 - 1996) and Member of the Advisory Board to the European High Pressure Research Group (1993 - 1996).
